Dr. James Talbot, Provincial Medical Officer of Health, was the guest speaker .
He informally spoke to us about the benefits of our new Rotary Park, and how parks impact our community in numerous ways.
He explained the concept of "big bushy neurons" produced by exercise and how to address health issues including heart problems, diabetes and blood pressure issues.
Further covered were the importance of food and nutrition and how to work towards healthier neighborhoods.
The benefit of knowing that "somebody cares" Dr. Talbot underscored and connected it to organizations like Rotary.
"Twice as much health is created by groups like yours than from the acute care system."
