Saint City Rotary was proud to make its annual contribution to the Don Vaugeois Scholarship, which is awarded through the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival. The scholarship honours the memory of Don Vaugeois, a beloved member of our club whose passion for music, generosity, and commitment to community left a lasting impact on St. Albert. Don believed deeply in the value of music and its ability to enrich lives and strengthen communities. He regularly supported music festivals and arts organizations, often providing instruments and assistance whenever there was a need.

At our September 15 meeting, we welcomed Dr. Alan Murdock, who joined us to thank the club for its continued support of the festival and scholarship program. Dr. Murdock presented Saint City Rotary with a certificate of appreciation and also recognized Myron Kostick with a special certificate acknowledging his ongoing personal support of the festival.

The St. Albert Rotary Music Festival continues that spirit today by encouraging young people in their artistic pursuits. The festival is an annual celebration of music and performance that nurtures young talent throughout our community. Each year, more than 1,600 young musicians participate, supported by over 60 volunteers who contribute more than 1,500 volunteer hours.

Through the Don Vaugeois Scholarship, Don's legacy lives on. Saint City Rotary is honoured to help support an initiative that reflects the values Don embodied throughout his life: a love of music, a belief in young people, and a commitment to building a stronger community for everyone.

Thank you to Dr. Alan Murdock for joining us and to the many volunteers, organizers, supporters, and participants who make the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival possible each year.
